Advice(su)
Our Service
We are a team of professional advice and advocacy providers, separate from the University
allowing us to provide a fully independent, impartial and confidential service. We are
committed to a person-centred approach - this means that you are at the heart of all we do. We will never
tell you what to do or what to say, but ensure you have all the relevant information to
make an informed decision.
Our job is to ensure your voice is heard. For a full list, you can find out more about our services below.

What we do
- We provide advice on a range of topics (eg. academic, non-academic, complaints and
housing).
- We offer a range of appointments including voice & video calls,
email and face to face.
- We run various campaigns to support you, your community and promote safety.
Our Campaigns
Campaigns ran by the Advice team are focussed on providing you with the support, safety and wellbeing that
you require all year round. Whether it be making sure that you have the best night out possible (with
campaigns such as Never OK, Alcohol Impact and Good Night
Out) or helping you get settled and moved in (with campaigns such as Don't Rent
Yet and Ready To Rent), our aim is to ensure that you have the best university
experience whilst studying at UEA.
Cost of Living
At uea(su) we get that the cost of living crisis is impacting everyone, not least students.
We are looking at how we can support you during this time of crisis and we will update you
soon on our Cost-of-Living Campaign.
We’ve brought together all the support available to students at UEA in one place.
Don't Rent Yet
Have you had local landlords or lettings agents encouraging you to sign contracts for next
academic year? There’s no need to rush!
Inclusive Language
As the uea(su) we are here to serve our students and in that it is vitally important that we
understand our students to effectively communicate with them, we need to speak their
language.
Alcohol Impact
There is often a perception that students drink heavily all the time, but the real picture is
far more varied and nuanced than that.
Safer Taxi
Say goodbye to unpleasant situations and nights out! Sure, Norwich is one of the safest
cities in the UK, but now you can feel even more secure when going to and from campus and
around Norwich thanks to our Safer Taxi Scheme.
Good Night Out
At uea(su), we believe that every student has the right to have a good night out without
experiencing sexual harassment so we have teamed up with Good Night Out. They began
challenging sexual violence in nightlife in 2014, initially as a campaign of Hollaback
London.
Never OK
We believe that everyone has the right to live, study and work in a safe and supportive
environment. That everybody is free from abuse, harassment and/or assault. We strive to
promote a safe campus and safe city.
Eradicate Hate
Eradicate Hate is a uea(su) anti-racism campaign created by Fiona Igwe and supported
by Afia Khan, Aaron Campbell and named by Niyi Akinseye, to address racism on campus and
ensure that Black students and all other ethnicities are properly supported.
A Night To Remember
In 2019 the A Night to Remember campaign was born, with the aim to promote activities
for clubs and societies which aren’t centred around alcohol and the drinking culture
university can sometimes be associated with.
